Mother Nurture offers yoga classes for all levels of yoga experience. Whether this is your first yoga experience, you have a dedicated practice, or you are sharing the yoga experience with your growing little ones, MNYW will have yoga classes to meet you and your family’s health and wellness needs.

All yoga classes are currently held in the Moonglow Studio, the studio space on the upper level of 89 Frank St. in Strathroy (studio entrance and parking is out back). Students are asked to bring a bottle of water and are welcome to bring their own mat to be able to surrender in their own space as well as for hygienic reasons. If needed, mats are available for use.

Space is limited in all classes and is based on first come, first served. If you wish to guarantee your spot, register in advance by contacting me. First-time students are asked to arrive at least 5 minutes early to their desired class to complete paperwork and sign in or if you wish, you may register in advance and I can email the health history/consent form to you.

Class descriptions for April-June 2013

Yoga for All

Classes:
Mondays, 8:00-9:00 pm
Tuesdays, 7:15-8:15 pm (with Brian Groot of Mindfulness Running, a Moksha-inpsired class)

For those with no experience at all to students with years of practice, this mixed level class offers a moderately vigorous practice that has something for everyone!

Yoga for All classes cultivate strength, flexibility, balance, endurance, and stress reduction by modifying postures (asanas) to suit your individual ability and by deepening your current physical practice, whatever that may be. Connect body, mind, and spirit while focusing on proper alignment, holding and/or flowing through asanas, breath work (pranayama), deep relaxation, and stilling the mind through meditation.

Yoga for Beginners

Class: Thursdays, 7:15 pm – 8:15 pm

Yoga for Beginners is designed for those with little to no experience practising yoga. Improve flexibility, build strength and stability, and work towards inner peace as you are introduced to the fundamentals of yoga, including postures (asanas), proper alignment, breath work (pranayama), relaxation, and meditation.

In Yoga for Beginners, you will learn at your own pace and receive regular prompts/cuing to guide you as you ease properly and comfortably into asanas. Hands on assistance is also provided if needed and if you are comfortable with this support.

Please Note: Although this class is designated as a class for beginners, it is NOT limited to new students!

Prenatal Yoga

Class: Wednesdays, 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Prenatal Yoga is a relaxing, safe, and gentle class for moms-to-be in various stages of pregnancy. This class is easy on a mother’s changing body and connects body, mind, and spirit while connecting mother and baby.

Prenatal yoga offers gentle stretching and strengthening postures (asanas), which can massage baby, relieve aches and pains, and help prepare your body for labour and delivery. Prenatal yoga’s breath work (pranayama), deep relaxation, and visualizations can help reduce anxiety, focus the mind, and when practised and used during labour and delivery, can assist in pain management.

You are welcome to bring a body pillow from home for your own comfort, however, body pillows are available for your convenience.

As with starting any new exercise, please consult with your midwife or doctor prior to registration.

Please note: If purchasing a 10-class flex pass and baby arrives early, unused classes can be used towards ANY adult yoga classes (Mommy & Baby Yoga, Yoga for Beginners, or Yoga for All), 6 weeks post-delivery or 8 weeks post-Caesarian and after you’ve consulted with your midwife or healthcare provider.
